What if Modern Controls were added to Virtua Fighter?

When I upscaled a specific part of the showcase video, the 'M' indicator is clearly visible at the top of the character portrait in the UI.
I'm guessing this might be an indicator for the Modern control state...
From the initial project interviews last year, concerns about improving control convenience have been mentioned, and it continues to be mentioned in several interviews released in recent days, so
it is not unlikely that the Modern control scheme, introduced in Street Fighter 6 and well-received, will also be applied to the new Virtua Fighter title.
During an interview, "Virtua Fighter only uses 3 buttons, so it's already Modern controls" was also mentioned... haha
They won't be able to go against the flow of the times, and I think they're probably pondering a way to implement it somehow.

If Virtua Fighter were to provide Modern controls, what would that look like... I've been thinking about it.
I wonder if they could adopt some of the control system from Dream Factory's 3D fighting game TOBAL.
Changing the Guard (G), Punch (P), Kick (K) 3-button system to a 4-button system of Guard (G), High (H), Mid (M), Low (L), thereby minimizing simultaneous button presses or lever combination commands.
For example, moves like Lau's and Pai's PPPK, PPP8K, PPP2K could be used with just button mashing like HHHH, HHHM, HHHL...
Of course, if this were done, the command differences between Modern controls and existing Classic controls would become significantly different,
the move list for each character would double, and the number of moves available with Modern controls might be quite a bit less than Classic, but
I think it could be an option worth considering among the ways to improve accessibility.
If Modern controls were introduced to Virtua Fighter, what method would be appropriate... What are other people's thoughts on this...?
