Game Adaptation

  1. First of all, thankfully, I didn't have much difficulty with the guard button.
Seeing a user who played their first ranked match not guard even once throughout all 3 rounds,
I thought it would be difficult for someone who hasn't played Virtua Fighter before to even approach the game.

  2. Even if I'm able to execute all the moves in training mode well, it's not just about inputting one command and being done, so I have no idea how to actually use them.
It's not something you get after dozens of matches; you'd need hundreds of matches to get used to it, and until then, it's extremely frustrating.

  3. Even if I know a few of my own moves and go into a game, I don't know the opponent's moves, so I just have to push through with many matches, similar to point #2.

  4. Watching and actually doing are very different. Of course, I think it's also harder to adapt because I'm older.

  5. If I play with users up to about 1st Dan ~ 10th Dan?, winning and losing is fun.

To play the game without command input errors or stumbles, it feels like I'd need to play at least about 300 matches.

Hori Stick: Complete Personal Impressions (Based on Stock)

  1. My first impression when seeing it in person compared to product photos was that it's incredibly large.

  2. Since I play on TV, I have to connect it to the PlayStation, and the process of bringing the stick and connecting the cable to the PlayStation is much more troublesome than I thought. When done, I have to disconnect the cable and put away the stick.

  3. The device is large and quite heavy, so it feels stable, but there's a burden to move it as hard as in old arcades, so I end up operating it more gently than expected.

  4. I didn't notice it until the 2nd day, but from the 3rd day, disadvantages became apparent... Should I say the buttons are loose? They feel a bit cheap. Inputs seem to work fine, but the button feel isn't crisp.

  5. I haven't tried a Sanwa stick, but the stick itself felt fine.

If I replace the stick and buttons, it would definitely improve, but the biggest obstacle is surprisingly #2... #1 is also an issue..

I'm just going to wait and try out the Sony stick. At least with the convenience of wireless connection, I'll turn it on one more time anyway..

For the reasons above, when the Sony stick arrives, I'll have to play casually as a light user. The back-and-forth itself with similar players is fun.

Even if I try the Sony stick and don't like it, since it's wireless, I'll just use it as a general-purpose stick.

PS: Some questions..

  1. It seems like before, wake-up attacks after being knocked down could be input with a slight delay, but now I have to diligently press KKK while rolling to get them out. Are delayed wake-up attacks no longer possible?
Or am I just not getting the timing? It feels like wake-up attacks come out too straightforwardly now.. Also, pressing KKK three times seems not to work if pressed at the very end of the roll...

  2. I think I briefly saw in a post that grab directions have all been unified into 3 types, is that correct? If so, are they 4, Neutral, and 6 three directions?

  3. Before, I understood that evasive throw escapes? like 8, P+G, 6P+G could escape evasion, basic throws, and one command throw. Have there been any changes?
Of course, I couldn't perform evasive throw escapes before either. lol

  4. Is 2or8 P+K+G after an evasion an Offensive Move? Is there any advantage to doing it?
It feels like putting in 2or8 P+K+G after evading a move actually removes any advantage.
