VIRTUA FIGHTER CROSSROADS teases the series’ first Korean woman fighter — only her feet and part of her gear revealed

In a teaser published on July 13, 2026, producer Riichiro Yamada said VIRTUA FIGHTER CROSSROADS would introduce the first Korean fighter in series history; the message called the fighter “she,” while the accompanying art showed only her feet.
Yamada’s message to Korean fans
The message on the official Korean account opened by asking fans what they thought of the Bakunawa Killer footage shown at Evo 2026.
Yamada said many more fighters were still to come and then shared a special piece of information for Korean fans.
Crossroads would feature the first-ever Korean fighter in Virtua Fighter history.
He said he had briefly mentioned this in an interview with local Korean media and therefore wanted to share it directly through the official account.
“She will bring something new”
Yamada cautioned that the team was not ready to disclose further details.
He nevertheless said that “she will bring something new to VIRTUA FIGHTER” and asked fans to wait for a proper introduction.
Her name, full appearance, background, voice actor and role in the story were not disclosed.
The teaser also did not confirm whether she would be selectable in Battle Mode.
Only the feet and part of the equipment were shown
The teaser art withheld the character’s face and upper body, showing two planted feet and only a small portion of the lower body.
White protective footwear, black trousers and white stripes down the trousers can be seen.
Famitsu described the gear as resembling ankle protectors integrated with footwear, but that visual description was not an official announcement of a martial art.
Expectations and speculation on Reddit
The sharing thread joked about a reveal limited to feet and included hopes that the footwear pointed to Taekwondo.
